Human Factors Cast Announces Transition to Nonprofit Foundation

Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Human Factors Cast Foundation will expand public education, research, media, and community programs focused on human factors science.
Chandler, Arizona - 5/28/2026 - Human Factors Cast announced today that the podcast and its related science communication work are becoming part of the Human Factors Cast Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on making human factors science accessible, practical, and part of everyday life.
The Human Factors Cast Foundation advances public understanding of human factors science through research, media, education, and community programs. Its work communicates the principles of psychology, engineering, ergonomics, and human factors in clear and practical ways so more people can understand how human-technology systems shape everyday life.
For long-time listeners and supporters, the core work will remain the same. Human Factors Cast will continue producing conversations, media, and community-centered content that help people understand the science of people and systems. The nonprofit structure gives that work a stronger home for future growth, partnerships, grants, education programs, and long-term support.
“This change gives a formal structure to the work our community has supported for years,” said Nick Roome. “Human Factors Cast started as a way to make human factors easier to talk about. The Foundation lets us build on that work with a broader public education mission.”
The Foundation’s work includes Human Factors Cast, the Human Factors Cast Digital Media Lab, future learning tools, public education projects, community programs, and experimental media formats. Through these efforts, the Foundation aims to make human factors science more widely understood, valued, and used to improve the systems, technologies, workplaces, and communities people rely on every day.
As a recognized 501(c)(3), the Human Factors Cast Foundation can receive charitable contributions. Eligible donations may be tax-deductible for donors who itemize, subject to IRS rules.
Long-time podcast supporters helped make this transition possible. Their support showed that human factors communication has an audience, a purpose, and a future beyond traditional academic and professional spaces.
